Fluconazole is a triazole antifungal agent used for the treatment and prevention of fungal infections caused by Candida and Cryptococcus species. It acts by inhibiting fungal cytochrome P450–dependent enzyme lanosterol 14-α-demethylase, disrupting ergosterol synthesis and impairing fungal cell membrane formation.
