Levofloxacin is the L-isomer of ofloxacin and a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It is indicated for a wide range of infections, including respiratory, urinary tract, skin, and soft tissue infections. It exerts its bactericidal effect by interfering with bacterial DNA replication and repair through inhibition of DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV.
