Clarithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic indicated for bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, skin, and soft tissues, and for Helicobacter pylori eradication in peptic ulcer disease. It inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit and preventing translocation of peptides.
